Extracurricular Activities that can Benefit you in College

Being in college does not mean that we are just completely focused on our studies only, of course, studying is crucial but participating in other activities which may seem like a waste of time for you is also vital. Let’s learn how some extracurricular activities can give you unlimited benefits in your student life!

Group Discussions

Group discussions are one of the great ways to build self-confidence and knowledge power in individuals. Since group discussions are generally about a certain topic and it involves a number of people, you are likely to enhance your knowledge and build confidence within yourself to express your thoughts as well. Other than this, discussions also involve people sharing their own perspectives and different thinking about a particular topic, thus, you become more open to more takes on a topic and accept them. Sharing your own opinion and putting forward to others as well, both are great ways to learn and grow. Speaking in discussion groups is a tough task, especially when you are a student yourself but participating in such discussions will give you confidence when you speak and others look at you attentively.

Stage Performances

Stage fear is a common problem that we have all faced during our learning years. If one overcomes it, they may deal with it forever but if they don't the fear will be instilled in their hearts for the rest of their lives. Fixing this problem is possible if we perform on stage. What you perform is not an issue, you can perform anything you want such as participate in a play, dance, sing or perform a stand-up comedy set. You may make mistakes but overcoming stage fear is worth all the efforts you put in. Honestly, most people don't even care about your mistakes as long as you don't care about them!

Sports Events

Sports event is another common activity that takes place in schools and colleges annually, it can race, football, athletics, basketball, cricket, and rugby. If you are an exercise freak, you obviously participate in them, however, if you are not, then you can still participate, not to win but to simply reminisce the childhood memories when you used to play. This is a great way to test your health and fitness levels and also to learn different ways to stay fit at home with easily available equipment without going to expensive gyms.

Cultural Participation

To stay in touch with the roots of our culture, it is vital to understand and practice it thoroughly. If you are studying outside of your country, what better opportunity can you get to showcase your culture in front of your collegemates? By taking part in cultural activities such as art and craft, dance, music and games, you can yourself learn about your cultural values and spread the knowledge among others as well. This will definitely be a proud moment for you as well as other others to learn about your cultural heritage.
